In Under the Willow we find a band where socially conscious lyrics are blended with intricate compositions to evoke a brand of songwriting that borrows from bluegrass and folk music but is wholly unique. Erin Donovan’s vocals and ravenous fiddle playing is supported by a superb cast of multi-instrumentalist. Hayley Skreens, Patrick Donovan and Joe Lego trade their tools amongst each other, each equally proficient on guitar, mandolin or banjo.

Last year saw an amazing growth in the band’s notoriety. They have managed to establish themselves in two major markets, Chicago and Tampa, by traveling like snow birds. While their efforts in Chicago over the summer netted them performances with The Shook Twins, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Old Shoe, and SHEL, their time in Florida has seen them play at the Gasparilla Festival and Downtown River Jam. Between their two homes, Under the Willow also made their first appearance at Yonder Mountain String Band’s Harvest Festival in Arkansas. They closed out 2014 at Skipper’s Smokehouse supporting Donna the Buffalo.
