Cheap Thrills! Burlesque on a Budget

FRI APR 28 9 PM
$15 Adv – $18 Door
Doors @ 8 PM (ages 18+)

Eventbrite - Cheap Thrills! Burlesque on a Budget

Sadie Hawkins presents Cheap Thrills! Burlesque on a Budget. This is the fifth edition of Cheap Thrills!, featuring performers who accepted the challenge of developing acts on a shoestring budget (and if you know burlesque performers, you know that's less than their typical rhinestone budget!). Our performers will be creating an act with either a $19.xx budget or by having a swap meet with other cast members - scrounging and scavenging to costume and prop without spending a dime.

They'll be performing these craftacular acts, as well as presenting documentation of their act development via old-fashioned science-fair style displays.

Ben Wade Band w/ Void Luna + Shreeps

SAT APR 29 8 PM
$9 Adv – $12 Door
Doors @ 7 PM

Void Luna is an Atlanta based modern alternative rock band combining melodic vocals, a punchy rhythm section and straight forward rocking guitars to bring a powerful sound and show to the stage.

Shreeps is an Atlanta, Ga-based songwriter, singer & guitarist who plays all different types of music as well originals full of melody, guitar playing, and harmonies.

Songs & Stories: Frankie Boots, Matthew Pendrick and Brian Revels in the Round

SUN APR 30 5 PM
$7 Adv – $10 Door
Doors @ 4 PM

Eventbrite - Songs & Stories: Frankie Boots, Matthew Pendrick and Brian Revels

Picture a west Texas desert road and a lone Cadillac kicking up dust, three travelers with a drinking solution, off to dream a little dream. Who got left behind? What's ahead? This is that movie's soundtrack. An early-evening devotion to stories as songs with some of the best songwriters you've never known of or - let's be honest - you know them personally: Frankie Boots, Matthew Pendrick and Brian Revels. Either way, your senses will thank you.

ScriptKiddie w/ Theadora

MON MAY 1 8 PM
$5 Adv – $7 Door
Doors @ 7 PM

Eventbrite - ScriptKiddie w/ Theadora

Scriptkiddie is an up and coming trio from Nashville, TN self-described as “a little west of country”. Having heard their 3-song demo (and listened to it more than once), I'd say that's apt but selling them a bit short. Strong songwriting and 3-part harmonies with a Western flare that deserves a better blanketing than Folk / Americana is... still doesn't quite do them justice. Just check it yourself, then come and see them perform live at Atlanta's Red Light Café on Monday, May 1st.

Atlanta's own Theadora opens the show at 8pm.

Donna Hopkins Band + Robert Bidney + Heidi Pollyea

THU MAY 18 8 PM
$8 Adv – $10 Door
Doors @ 7 PM

Eventbrite - Donna Hopkins Band + Robert Bidney + Heidi Pollyea

The Donna Hopkins Band is a hard rock n' roots trio. Playing a blues rock mix of original music, the show never disappoints. The band consists of Donna Hopkins on lead guitar and vocals, a bass player, and Richie Jones on drums and backup vocals. Richie calls the band "Government Hopkins" because of the energy and sound they put out on stage. Donna’s guitar playing is comparable to Duane Allman or Derek Trucks, and her singing is comparable to Bonnie Raitt. This is truly a band destined for stardom!

Robert Bidney is like an arrow launched from a string that has been pulled back for the better part of two decades. For years Robert worked on the other side of the music business while penning songs that were covered by an eclectic group of artists around the world, but his dream was to produce an album of his own. That dream came true when Bidney’s album, “It’s All About the Love” was released.

Heidi Pollyea, an Atlanta based singer/songwriter, performs on piano, guitar and of late “a li’l banjo”. Heidi takes her varied musical styles and combines them with lyrics that range from poignant and personal, to frankly funny.

Truett will take you from the Mississippi Delta to Prince’s Minneapolis, Chicago blues to Bowery Punk, down through Outkast’s Atlanta and out the other side of the psychedelic rabbit hole. That explosive mix makes for a singular experience. Truett is more than the sum of his influences; what he does is unique and spectacular. His work is evocative of many things, but a carbon copy of nothing that came before. He’s classic and modern, new and old, absolutely stunning in his raw, unbridled authenticity.

Dreambrother gracefully bridges the gap between alt-rock and electronic music with soulful, colorful imagery.

Kara Kole has an eclectic sound infused with flavors of rhythm & blues, funk, rock n’ roll, and alternative soul. Influenced by 60’s R&B divas like Etta James and Nina Simone, and modern-day crooners such as Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse, the singer/songwriter tastefully delivers a blend of modern and classic styles.
