Super Happy Funtime!

FRI • FEB 22 • 9 PM
$15 Adv – $20 Door
Doors @ 8 PM (ages 18+)

Touring the nation for 10 years, Super Happy Funtime is a show that still cannot be explained. Based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, this 10 member ensemble performs a show that, for lack of a better term, is described as live band burlesque. But with the absence of jazz, of feather boas, of any of the trappings of glamour; Super Happy Funtime is a rock opera with a little added sex and sleaze.

Dedicated to the dirty, the ribald, and the surreal; this oddball show mixes dirty jokes and stunts and satire into a show of extremely contemporary and catchy rock music that is equal parts South Park, Rocky Horror, and Price is Right. Exploring every corner of camp, of sleaze, and with a mix of seriously intelligent social commentary; it is guaranteed that Super Happy Funtime will surprise every time.

2 sets, each about an hour long, and a 15 minute intermission.

It is similar to an open mic, but with the added benefit of discussion. You can come and play a song or just watch and listen. If you'd like to play, you will tell us all if you are interested in receiving feedback on the song or not. If you are interested then after you play we will all discuss what we like about the song, and any suggestions we might have as a group. If you'd rather not have any feedback on the song then you will simply play the song for us. There's no cash prize, competition, or politics. Just songwriting discussions and hopefully new friendships.

If you're a songwriter looking to connect with other songwriters and get some dialogue happening, this group is for you! A club like this allows us to get to know other local songwriters, and learn from one another.

Charlie Hunter & Lucy Woodward

THU • APR 18 • 8 PM
$20 Adv – $25 Door
Doors @ 7 PM

Charlie Hunter and Lucy Woodward are known for excelling in different genres, yet the two veteran musicians have been running in similar circles before pairing up for touring in 2018.

With a career spanning 25 years and almost 20 albums, virtuoso guitarist Charlie Hunter has worked with the likes of Norah Jones, Mos Def, John Mayer, and D’Angelo. He is widely considered the authority on the seven- and eight-string guitar, and continues to stun audiences with his ability to simultaneously bust out tasty bass parts, melodic leads and swinging rhythms.

Lucy Woodward made her major label debut in 2003. She has since recorded/toured with Rod Stewart, Snarky Puppy, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Pink Martini, Chaka Khan and Carole King releasing 3 more albums along the way. Her latest studio effort was 2016's Til They Bang On The Door released on the Snarky Puppy-owned GroundUP Music.

As for what to expect live from Hunter and Woodward, the two — as rounded out by a drummer — will be performing pocket-heavy renditions of vintage blues and classic vintage pop, covers of Nina Simone, The Animals, Bessie Smith and Terence Trent D'Arby included. The duo have a full-length album slated for release in early 2019.
