Treedom celebrates the release of their second album, Color King, with special guests Cinema Novo!
Treedom formed as a four piece during their early years in Athens, GA. After a while they found their own eclectic groove and began incorporating original material to perform solid sets. Three years later, their first studio album was released in 2010: Swamp Thing. After a brief absence, Treedom has revived in full force as a trio. Their current sound is influenced by all degrees of music, but now they take a mature focus in blending a progressive structure with darker psychedelic rhythm. Join us in celebrating the release of their second album, Color King – and check out the album's first single, "Sawtooth":
Cinema Novo is an instrumental rock duo from Atlanta that strives to put on shows which are powerful and intimate performing rock music that is both interesting and infectious. The band's name is borrowed from the 1960s Brazilian film movement of the same name, which embodied the imagery of the band's music with its common themes of populism, violence, exploitation, and political realism. Director Glauber Rocha's famous phrase "an idea in your head and a camera in hand," translated to "sounds in your head and a guitar in hand," as the duo pushed to do more with less, overcome obstacles, and create a series of scenes using sound. Together, they work hard to blend chewed-up garage rock, latin rhythms, and psychedelic ambience to form an intricate two-man mutiny.
