Songwriter Showcase: Tim Olivar + Fairshake + The Tin Man

Singer / Songwriters Tim Olivar (Mr. Blue Sky), Fairshake (Shayne Goss) and The Tin Man perform. It's a Singer / Songwriter Showcase Saturday you don't want to miss!

$8 Adv – $10 Door
Doors @ 7 PM

Tim Olivar is an all around performing artist. At any given time he may be singing, acting, dancing and/or writing music. He is a thespian for life. Tim graduated from Valdosta State University in 2012 with a degree in theatre, emphasis in musical theatre, and he hasn't stopped performing since. In the spring of 2013 he decided to pursue music, a field where he can create, perform and explore artistically without boundaries. Since then he has started his own company, TimTheJazzSinger.com, where he sings Frank Sinatra songs and other throwback tunes, but Mr. Blue Sky is his passion and his dream. Tim hopes to inspire and encourage others to pursue their dreams despite the obstacles. Special thanks to his amazing family and friends for their never ending love and support.

Shayne Goss has been writing songs and playing tunes since she was 14 years old, and her music is a curious blend of folk, pop, and old school rock. It's catchy, infectious, and fun to sing along with. In short, it's wonderful.

Going by the name Fairshake, Shayne sometimes performs with her band featuring Lando on guitar and Donavan Gazaway on drums.

It doesn't take much listening to hear the brains and heart of The Tin Man. Each song is a step down the yellow brick road soaked with pain, yearning, regret, but most of all hope. In his quest for a new heart, The Tin Man tells us stories of heartache and redemption beautifully wrapped in a raw, organic soundscape that feels almost primal at times.

"I was the weird kid growing up who couldn't get a date and would make mixtapes with Paula Abdul, R.E.M., Boyz II Men, and The Beach Boys back-to-back. I've always been drawn to grooves and melodies I can't shake off. Even now you'll find Calvin Harris playing after The Avett Brothers on my playlist." Though identifying with the alt-folk movement, this eclectic mix of influences is what makes The Tin Man's songs stand out and latch onto your ear in a way you can't shake off. You can't miss him visually either, dawning a boller hat and a small, acoustic parlor guitar, which he plays backwards like Paul McCartney.

"I want the audience to become absorbed in the story we tell on stage. From the clothes, to the setlist, to the mallets my drummer is using, nothing is accidental. We are intentionally building an emotional journey meant to get everyone dancing, laughing, crying, and ultimately singing along."

In early 2015, The Tin Man will be teaming up with Grammy-nominated producer Billy Hume to record his debut EP. "Billy is one of those rare souls who doesn't just slap his signature onto your music. He listens. And listens. And listens. Until he knows you as a human as much as he does an artist. That's why everything I've heard him put out is dripping with authenticity." That might make Billy the Wizard - he does in fact look like one.

In a cast where the Cowardly Lion is played by Mumford & Sons' "Little Lion Man" and the Scarecrow is played by Beck's track with the same title, The Tin Man locks arms naturally with them as they head toward Oz, or a city near you.
