Acoustic Station with friends is a duo fronted by Melanie and Paul Shaw. We do singer songwriter music and will be joined by Naomi Lavender (vocals), Jay Wiggins (guitar), Mark Williams (violin), and Frank Hamilton of folk music fame on vocals and banjo. Then four member group Dirty Shame will round out the evening with classic cover songs done acoustically. We expect each group to play for 45 min with a brief break between.
Kennedy Shaw is a Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter originally from southern New Jersey. She began her music career early, releasing her first record at the age of 16. Over the years, she has immersed herself in various aspects of the music industry, gaining experience both on stage and behind the scenes. Shaw's musical style blends elements of alternative rock, indie, grunge, and folk. Her debut EP, Makeout Machine, released in 2016, showcases raw, emotionally charged love songs. In 2018, she released the full-length album Girl Almighty, described as "shameless, powerful, and rebellious." Her 2020 EP, Mother of the Grave, reflects on her youth, with all proceeds from the single "Heaven" donated to the NAACP. Beyond her solo work, Shaw has performed at various venues, including a Key Studio Session at WXPN in 2024. She is also active on social media under the handle @makeoutgrrl, where she shares updates on her music and performances. For this special concert, she will be joined by her songwriter, drummer, and composer uncle- Paul Shaw, and his acoustic ensemble with friends.
