Eventbrite - Sex, Drugs & Bluegrass at Red Light Café

Come celebrate the celebration of celebrating by celebrating with music, women, and wine. Three outfits who will perform with you as you do your celebrating. This is Sex, Drugs, & Bluegrass, and will be the first of many events! Open bluegrass jam at 6pm; show starts at 8pm with Borderhop Five, Reverend Hylton and the Devil's Hands, and Good Natured Children.

Borderhop Five, formerly known as the Borderhop Trio, is the quintessential Athens band: it loves the town and loves playing music for its own sake. Their influences include Bill Monroe, the inventor of bluegrass, who back in the 40's created what was described by critics as the "high, lonesome sound." Today, the band seeks to authenticate that old-timey music, so come out and see what they've got goin' on.

After three and a half years of playing in the jam band 3DC, Reverend Hylton has gone back to his roots. Forming an Americana Outlaw band with band mates Matt Humphry on drums, Jared Slyman on bass and bringing in the electric slide styles of Kyle Prinzbach. Together they are Reverend Hylton and the Devil's Hands. A sound that showcases Rev. Hylton’s relatable songs of traveling, heartache, and addiction. A mix of rowdy country tunes and heartfelt ballads. So watch out 'cause you might just find yourself singing along or doing a little shit kickin' boot stompin’!
