Atlanta guitarist, Micah Cadwell, is at home at a Jazz Club or a Honkey Tonk. His style draws from a broad and eclectic range of influences including Johnny Smith, Barney Kessel, Jimmy Bryant, Tiny Moore, and Don Helms. When he is not teaching, he is active in recording and works with numerous local musicians on a variety of projects.
Formed in April 2005, The Cook Trio consists of Ian Cook, Jason Cook and Kyle Jones, who were brought together by their common love of Django Reinhardt's passionate music and anarchic spirit. Their music speaks of Jazz's original eroticism and wartime Paris' unquenchable thirst for life. The jagged rhythms they turn out evoke not only the bowels of a smoky bistro, but the soul of a time when people tackled each moment with palpable urgency. Many other influences color their performances: with over 100 songs in their repertoire, a live performance is just as likely to yield tunes by Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Miles, Trane, or Monk.
With the release of their latest album Uproar, The Cook Trio renders their vintage ambience with the most modern and polished approach to date. Nearly two years in the making, Uproar features both classic tunes and contemporary ones, all true to the Gypsy Jazz style of legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt. Uproar was recorded live without overdubs over the course of five days by Mark Brasel at North Avenue Studios in DeLand, Florida. It was mixed by Jason Cook and then mastered at Studio Ferber in Paris, France by Benjamin Joubert. Cover Photography was provided by Jonathan Goforth.
