Singer / songwriters Melissa Brethauer & Hannah Thomas grace the stage at Red Light Café, with Rebekah Todd kicking off the evening of music at 8pm.
Melissa Brethauer released her debut CD, Waiting, at the end of October 2009 and has been writing more new songs since – not to mention performing them in the likes of Nashville and Las Vegas! The 23-year old singer / songwriter plays guitar and (is classically trained on) piano, and the buzz around her has grown since Waiting came out.
Hannah Thomas has a style of her own that is hard to define, a little too rock to be country, a little too country to be rock. Amy Ray, half of the Grammy winning duo Indigo Girls, probably describes her best when she calls Thomas an “outlaw songwriter” – and those outlaw roots can be heard in her music. With influences like Johnny Cash and Terri Clark, Heart and even Aerosmith it’s easy to understand why Hannah’s music can be so hard to label. But there is no mistaking the power in Thomas’ voice.
Rebekah Todd is a gifted songwriter with a voice that was meant to be heard – natural, soulful, and effortless. She finds inspiration in her life experiences and channels those emotions into her songs, making her approach to music organic and authentic. While her songwriting speaks for itself, it is on the stage that one can truly begin to appreciate her depth and sincerity as they follow along with the dips and swells of emotion that Rebekah Todd brings to every performance.
