The Mars Hill Porch Pickers Bluegrass Band was founded by Painter Dickson Lester in the Fall of 1992 as an outreach to youth in the community of the Mars Hill Presbyterian Church in Acworth, GA. After the youth went off to college, Dickson continued to use the group to play for retirement homes and other special events in the community around Cobb County including Acworth, Kennesaw, Dallas, Cartersville and many other locations. They have since put on or played at concerts in Powders Springs, Blue Ridge, The Blue Ridge Railroad, Raccoon Creek, Acworth Opry, Everett's Music Barn, Heritage at Brookstone, Blairsville and most sponsored SEBA festivals.
The band members have changed over the years, but Dickson has continued to pull great musicians together with the ultimate goal to play fun music that combines joy and laughter, and makes folks wanna smile, tap their toes and feet, sing along and be pleasing to the ears of the audience.
