Jazz pianist Louis Heriveaux returns to RLC with Tommy Sauter (bass), Kinah Boto (drums) and Leah Calvert (vocals & violin). Dave Pope Trio and Laura Mustari open.
8pm — Laura Mustari will be accompanied by her trio as she sings a collection of songs that are mostly hidden gems.
A native of Seattle, Laura Mustari has been playing piano and singing since the age of 3. Growing up around music, Laura eventually fell in love with jazz after studying jazz piano in Atlanta with Ted Howe. She then pursued her masters degree at Georgia State University in Jazz Piano, where she also got a chance to sing jazz in combos and big band.
9pm — Dave Pope Trio featuring Dave Pope on guitar, Rusty Holloway on bass, Kinah Boto on drums, and India Galyean on vocals. Special guest Bill Van Dyke will join in on a couple tunes.
Dave Pope is a multi-instrumentalist performing on drums, guitar, and bass guitar. He is also a producer of live bands performing in various venues including public concerts, jazz clubs, and private functions. His bands range from duos to quintets and often feature some of the finest vocalists in the southeast. Dave grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio in a family of virtuoso musicians. His parents, David and Ann Pope are both professional classical pianists and his brother Mike is a world-renowned bassist, pianist, and producer. His brother Pete is a pianist and performs in the Austin, Texas area.
10pm — Louis Heriveaux rounds off the evening with originals and classics as only he can perform. Kinah Boto Ayah and Tommy Sauter will accompany, with Leah Calvert featured on vocals and violin.
Louis Heriveaux has toured with guitarist Russell Malone, vocalist Nnenna Freelon, saxophonist Jimmy Heath, vocalist Jeanie Bryson – as well as performed with pretty much everyone in the Atlanta jazz scene including, Bernard Linnette, Melvin Jones, Laura Coyle, Russell Gunn, and Mace Hibbard.. A music producer in the popular music world, Heriveaux has worked with the likes of Dallas Austin, 112, TLC, Ginuwine, and Snoop Dogg.
