Grits & Soul bring their lonesome mountain bluegrass drenched in Mississippi soul & blues to RLC Bluegrass Thursday. Battlefield Collective kick off the show at 8pm, with our weekly open bluegrass jam starting at 6pm.
At the heart of Grits & Soul is the collaboration of Southern song crafters, Anna Kline & John Looney. Their sound is steeped in lonesome mountain bluegrass & drenched in Mississippi soul & blues. Whether performing as an acoustic duo or a full band, the Grits & Soul sound haunts you. The release of their first full-length album, Flood Waters, follows on the heels of their appearance as a featured showcase artist at the 2013 International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass week in Raleigh, North Carolina. Grits & Soul performed in a series of showcases sponsored by Merlefest, Pinecastle Records, & The Mast Farm Inn.

Battlefield Collective began in the summer of 2013. Stephanie Caron and Robert Green decided to combine their musical talents and experience to create a group that brings local musical and artistic talent together. Currently performing with just two members, Stephanie and Robert aim to expand their dynamic duo and create a band that is as eclectic as their musical tastes. Battlefield Collective's goal is to master the art of entertainment through performing original and cover material influenced by the traditions of Americana, Bluegrass, Rockabilly and Folk.
