Lauren Jones & the Current started when Yanic Small overheard Lauren singing Jill Scott's "He Loves Me". From there they spent countless nights writing, singing, and making music. Seeing the impact Lauren's voice has on her audiences, Yanic decided to augment her sound with a soulful bass and atmospheric guitar touches. In addition to Yanic, that's where Tim Allen came in respectively. Not only do they compliment Lauren's sound, but if one of them takes the melody, Lauren's voice becomes an instrument itself as it playfully floats around the bass and guitar. Then there's Jim Dykstra on drumset. Jim's playing is the heartbeat of the group. With each pulse you not only feel more alive, but you can't help but smile as he controls the rhythm of your soul.
