Sadie Hawkins presents a multimedia event featuring dramatic readings and interpretive performances of the crass and unwelcome messages people get on social media and dating sites.
We will confront the dehumanization, objectification, and tastelessness of this harassment by highlighting the absurdity of the messages: Comedy in tragedy. People can be hurtful jackasses or just plain perplexing; let's make performance art out of those awful DMs.
This event is also a period packing party, in support of The Homeless Period Project. Attendees are encouraged to bring menstrual supplies (pads and liners, in particular) for a discounted admission. Participants can volunteer to make kits of these supplies, which will be donated to local organizations (schools and shelters) where they can be provided to menstruating people in need.
