City Mouse returns to Red Light Café to headline an evening of Americana Alterna-Country Folk Rock featuring Kelcy Mae, Queen Elizabeth, and Geoff Koch.
City Mouse is the collective spirit of Atlanta-based songwriters, Brian Revels and Michael Hudgins. Born in the latter part of 2012 amongst the trash heaps and decay-filled dumpsters of the Big Peach's outskirts, City Mouse is a bastard-spawn of too many nights of drunken conversations about a shared sense of appeal for the Americana movement and nostalgia of the past. Generally accompanied by a banjo (plus Brian's overzealous, tempo-tempting foot stomps), a guitar, and a double-bass, played by the talented Jenna Mobley, the Mouse's lyrics are the words that keep these broke-ass, hopeless romantics spending all their tip money on microphones and strings.
Combining traditional southern bluegrass and country instrumentation with an independent rock sound, Kelcy Mae hits a pitch perfect balance of alt rock/alt country that follows in the tradition of musical greats like Natalie Merchant’s 10,000 Maniacs, Casey Chambers, Lucinda Williams and more. The Fire EP (2013) is Kelcy Mae’s third recording project and poised to become a breakout for the New Orleans-based singer/songwriter. With a matured sound, terrific songwriting and some of the finest musical accompaniment New Orleans has to offer, Kelcy Mae has taken her already-considerable talents to another level.
Queen Elizabeth is a brand-spankin' new up-n-coming Georgia-based country duo consisting of singer / songwriters EB Reece and Hope Sonam. The duo met in 2012 and bonded over the challenges that were facing them as female, solo, country artists trying to find a place in the commercial music scene. They began writing songs and decided that what they had was so special, it was time to join forces and see what they could do as a team. Their catalogue thus far consists of honest, sassy, effortless tunes and they've only just begun! With influences ranging from John Prine to The Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow to Shania Twain, and Alanis Morisette to Sugarland, we can't wait to see what they bring to the stage!
Geoff Koch is a Nashville singer-songwriter by way of St. Louis. Inspired in part by Gregory Alan Isakov, Elliott Smith and Ryan Adams, Geoff presents his own compelling and artistic brand of indie/pop/atmospheric folk music. Geoff has built a catalog of songs ranging from full-band rock and roll to sparse solo acoustic. He's found his voice writing powerful indie/folk. His music is for fans of the acoustic intimacy of The Civil Wars to the pop and melodic beauty of Death Cab For Cutie and Sigur Rós.
