Always With Love is a musical fundraising event for our friend Jeff Bernstein and his partner Gay Clarke. Jeff was recently diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer and stage 3 pancreatic cancer — and Jeff is uninsured. Bring all your music and art loving friends who want to be here to celebrate the big heart of our musical community with the best bands in Atlanta giving their talent and time to help out!
Jeff was born in Chicago and adopted by Robert and Frances Bernstein of Omaha, where he grew up. After studying art in San Francisco and Seattle, he worked for a time as a craftsman of children’s toys in Washington. He returned to Omaha, then moved to Atlanta in 1984, where his parents retired. He has been a fixture of the local music and arts scene ever since.
Jeff is a multi-instrumentalist musician, painter, sculptor, and craftsman. Musically, he is influenced by Americana, Roots, Folk, Blues, Cajun Zydeco, and World Music. His most recent CD is available for free download on ReverbNation.
His visual art and sculpture has been shown in a number of galleries throughout the country, including Forum Gallery at the Defoor Center and at Thomas Deans Gallery in Atlanta.
Although he doesn’t like to brag about it, Jeff has the storied history of a real troubadour. He has met and played with musicians as diverse as John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, Chuck Berry, Michael Bloomfield and Bugsy Maugh (Paul Butterfield Blues Band), Sam Andrews (guitar for Janis Joplin), John Hammond Jr., Peter, Paul and Mary, and Johnny Cash's guitarist Luther Perkins.
