The DOERS AND DREAMERS tour with Alex Wong, Korby Lenker and Megan Slankard celebrates the spirit of the modern independent artist – the artist who not only dreams, but makes it happen! When the days of million dollar record deal advances, MTV video airplay, and chart busting singles have become more and more a thing of the past, the musician of today is a part of a rapidly growing movement of artists who are making a living on a grass roots, fan-forward, DIY level. Our mission at DOERS AND DREAMERS is to embody the spirit of independent creativity. As living, breathing examples of full time creators, we give our audiences a unique perspective from the front lines - at what we do as artists who have each carved out individual paths to sustainability. There are infinite ways to make a life out of art, and we are excited to share a few of them. We want to share our experiences - through songs, stories, and improvised collaborations - to empower our listeners to reach for their own creative stars, to make a sustainable living from their own creative passion. We hope that through sharing our own art and experiences and stories, our audience members will go home inspired to make it happen for themselves too! We challenge the traditional notion of experiencing live music and give audiences a more immersive, interactive, and enjoyable experience, breaking down the fourth wall and letting our listeners take part in the creative process.

Alex Wong is a Brooklyn-based producer, writer and performer whose signature sonic style resonates in all he creates–from cinematic pop soundscapes to electronic tinged theater scores to his honest, direct songwriting. He has produced recordings with leading artists such as Delta Rae (Sire/Warner Bros), Ari Hest (Downtown/Mercer Street), Elizabeth and the Catapult (Verve/Forecast), Melissa Ferrick (MPress Records), Vienna Teng (Rounder/Universal) and Grammy nominee Ximena Sarinana (Sire/Warner Bros.) with whom he performed at both Coachella and SXSW in 2012. His work with Ms. Sarinana can also be heard on the new Bob Dylan tribute album Chimes of Freedom for Amnesty International on the song “I Want You” (featured track on the Starbucks edition) available 1/24. Alex has garnered critical acclaim for his songwriting collaborations with recording artists Amber Rubarth (The Paper Raincoat), Vienna Teng, Paul Freeman, Elizabeth and the Catapult, and Alex Berger (Independent Music Award winner). His songwriting has been heard in film and television projects such as The Last Song (Disney/Touchstone), One Tree Hill, and The Lincoln Lawyer (Lion’s Gate).
On July 17, 2012, Alex released his first solo album, A City On A Lake, which featured vocal performances by Ari Hest and Ximena Sarinana. This was followed by the release of the music video for the single off the album, “Oceanside,” directed by Lawrence Chen and Hagan Wong.
Korby Lenker is a sneaky-good songwriter. And singer. And multi-instrumentalist.
An abbreviated list of Lenker’s achievements so far includes: a significant amount of airplay on the legendary Seattle indie rock station KEXP; a BBC 2 interview with Bob Harris, which is only about the highest honor a rootsy singer-songwriter touring the U.K. can get; opening slots for acts ranging from Willie Nelson to Ray LaMontagne, Nickel Creek, Keith Urban, Susan Tedeschi and Tristan Prettyman; a successful run with one of the hottest young West Coast bluegrass bands of the aughts; and wins in the Merlefest folk songwriting contest as well as the Kerrville Folk Festival’s elite New Folk songwriting competition.
A Native Californian Indie Rocker, Megan Slankard has sold over 35,000 copies of her four previous independently released CDs, and she is currently touring across the US to support her band's brand new fifth album, Running on Machinery, which was recorded with the help of Nashville producer, Alex Wong (Vienna Teng, Delta Rae).
Her preceding album, A Token Of The Wreckage was recorded with help from David Bryson (Counting Crows) and Jerry Becker (Train). Her songs have also won several awards: in 2013 alone, she was a finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest, a finalist in the International Songwriting Contest (ISC), and a finalist in the Show Me the Music Contest. She was also a finalist for Best Female Artist in the International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA).
Touring extensively throughout the United States and Europe, Megan's adventures include opening for Jamie Cullum at a sold-out Fillmore, playing electric guitar on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live as part of the Jeff Campbell Band, singing the National Anthem to a crowd of 45,000 Giants baseball fans, performing duets with Pat Monahan of Train, and touring with Dire Straits co-founder David Knopfler throughout Europe.
