Beyond the Neighborhood showcases the original compositions of Mister Rogers featuring:
Grammy-nominated pianist, Kevin Bales
Chicago Vocalist, Keri Johnsrud
Drummer, Marlon Patton
Bassist, Kelly McCarty
And special guests from our musical neighborhood
Fred McFeely Rogers - the cardigan-wearing, sneaker-shod, quintessentially gentle Presbyterian minister known as Mister Rogers on the awards-winning children's TV show that aired for nearly 35 years - also wrote the songs he sang on his program. He wrote a lot of songs, and he wrote them well. As a kid you might not have noticed the craftsmanship of these songs, but as an adult, you can't miss it. These songs left their mark on three generations of children who made Mister Roger's Neighborhood part of their after-school routine.
The songs, which up until now were specifically tailored for his children’s show, are now presented as reinvented gems that are wise and wistful, simple but not simplistic, and even, in some cases, a bit sultry. In this concert, Mister Rogers' songs not only relate to adults; they seem to have been written for adults in the first place.

Join us for the Atlanta Songwriters Club Meet Up at Red Light Café every second Monday of the month! $5 at the door, starts at 8pm, and you can sign up to play a song if you'd like when you get here.
The Atlanta Songwriters Club is a bit like an open mic with a few key differences. This group exists for songwriter's who would like to interact with other songwriters. It is similar to an open mic, but with the added benefit of discussion. You can come and play a song or just watch and listen. If you'd like to play, you will tell us all if you are interested in receiving feedback on the song or not. If you are interested then after you play we will all discuss what we like about the song, and any suggestions we might have as a group. If you'd rather not have any feedback on the song then you will simply play the song for us. There's no cash prize, competition, or politics. Just songwriting discussions and hopefully new friendships.
If you're a songwriter looking to connect with other songwriters and get some dialogue happening, this group is for you! A club like this allows us to get to know other local songwriters, and learn from one another.

Following the success of the inaugural Bangers & MashUps: A Burlesque Improv Show in July of 2025, TumbleMarx is proud and excited to be back for 2nd Helpings!
For the uninitiated, Bangers & Mashups is a burlesque show where performers completely improvise their acts on the spot - and to make it even weirder, the music will be song mashups they've never fully heard before! Think Britney Spears vs. Iron Maiden, or Sabrina Carpenter vs. The Doobie Brothers, or Charli XCX vs. U2, or KISS vs. Earth, Wind and Fire. 🤩

The Wilder Flower
Madeline Dierauf and Molly Johnson have been building a sound together since meeting in 2021 at the Hagood Mill Fiddlers Convention, where they have each taken home multiple blue ribbons. Their musical chemistry developed easily during their first practice, and they've been refining their sound and show ever since.
The Wilder Flower blends Folk, Americana, Bluegrass, and Old-time influence into something new and fluid. They thrive vocally on three-part harmonies, whether a two-chord old-time ballad, or a modern, minor-filled melody, and instrumentally feature bluegrass banjo tunes, fiddle and clawhammer string-band songs, and everything in between. Their unique sound is centered around original songs and tunes that are thoughtfully arranged and adapted to showcase their tasteful instrumental sensibilities. They flex between genres and writers in each song, but there is something to their collective taste that speaks the same language, though switching dialects.
If you've been to a show, you know how lively they are on stage. With years of experience dating back to their early teenage years, they are natural performers. As a band they enjoy engaging with audiences, telling stories, and opening up about their songwriting and musical process. They create a meaningful shared experience with the audience at every show, and often leave people laughing. Their loyal audience members joke about returning again and again to their shows because the dialogue on stage is always unpredictable, and unmissable.
Calvert, Newberry & Smith
Leah Calvert (fiddle), Ian Newberry (guitar) & Michael Smith (mandolin) are three veterans of the Atlanta bluegrass music scene and masters of their respective instruments. Leah and Michael are both members of The Dappled Grays and their own group called Smith & Calvert. Ian performs with several bands in different genres and is well known for his work with Smokey's Farmland Band. The three of them bring a high level of professionalism to their art, and you will expect nothing but the best from them as they weave their path from Tony Rice to Allison Krauss and everything in between, including some originals.
